THE ART OF SAVORING
Savoring is a powerful practice that invites us to fully engage and appreciate the richness of our experiences. In a fast-paced world, where moments often pass by unnoticed, cultivating the ability to savor can bring about profound positive changes in our lives.
Savoring is the art of mindfully appreciating and fully experiencing positive moments. It involves slowing down, being present, and immersing ourselves in the details of an experience. Whether it's a delicious meal, a beautiful sunset, or a joyful moment with loved ones, savoring allows us to extract maximum joy and fulfillment.
It has been linked to increased feelings of happiness and life satisfaction.
By focusing on positive experiences, savoring helps shift attention away from stressors, promoting relaxation.
shared moments fosters deeper connections with others.
To incorporate savoring into our daily routine, we should try setting aside moments for mindfulness, keeping a gratitude journal, or simply taking a few extra seconds to fully immerse ourselves in enjoyable experiences like to watch a butterfly flutter in a lovely garden, witness a sunrise, dance in rain, a heartily talk with a good friend, read books, watch birds chirp and soar high in sky, cook a special meal, gardening, painting, travelling ,listen and absorb the lyrics of a favourite song, work out for fitness, evening walk in harmony with nature, or anything that creates a sense of optimism, contentment and bliss.
In essence, savoring is a conscious choice to embrace the richness of life. By savoring the present, we can create a more fulfilling and meaningful life journey.
A well-known book IKIGAI reflects insights on the Japanese concept of living a more fulfilling and mindful life.
It emphasises on savoring each moment happening in life.
Similarly, book "POWER OF NOW" reflects on savoring the present moments with gratitude.
In my opinion, we should savor both the negative and positive situations in life, for negative ones will make us stronger, more receptive to the outer world, while the positive ones will certainly make us feel content, less anxious and provide a sense of happiness.
A balance of sweet and sour in a sumptuous savory snack makes it taste great, similarly a balance of sweet and sour life experience is utmost important for the positive trajectory and fulfilled life.
Hereby ending my thoughts on Savory with my favourite quote from book IKIGAI
"SAVOR THIS MOMENT AS IF IT WERE YOUR LAST BREATH. YOU CAN LIVE ONLY ONE DAY AT A TIME, AND NO ONE CAN BE CERTAIN THAT THEY WILL GET UP THE NEXT MORNING. SO LET'S NOT POSTPONE THE HAPPINESS.THE BEST MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE IS THIS ONE".
Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced! ⭐
