DysLExiC!
At fourteen, I discovered a truth so hard to bear,
I couldn't read, couldn't spell, felt lost in despair.
My teacher's words cut deep, "Stupid," she said,
Reading aloud brought laughter, filling me with dread.
Embarrassed and wanting to leave,
My dad's advice echoed, "Just be who you'll be."
Late nights, extra time, I fought the fight,
Trying to fix my mind, make it all right.
At twenty-five, an insight so clear,
Dyslexic, I declared, without fear.
No need for hiding, shame put to rest,
Acceptance bloomed within my chest.
Silent struggles, a hidden strain,
Until a kind soul spoke, breaking the chain.
"I am dyslexic, can I not read aloud?"
Her words, a lifeline in the crowd.
No more fixing, no more despair,
Embracing myself with love to spare.
Dyslexic and proud, I stand tall,
In simplicity and acceptance, I found it all.
You will find me where the grasses are greener - pourel.
