I do walk ( from kitchen to dining table and vice-versa), everyday. I love walking, especially, inside a shopping mall which is a great exercise for your body but not for your wallet or purse. Walking becomes more enjoyable when you are with your boyfriend or girlfriend and eat street food, Pani puri or vada pav.
We have WhatsApp and Facebook Universities imploring us to walk, and read the posts of thousands of dieticians and fitness coaches that claim to get rid of the excessive belly fat and the fat accumulated at our rear ends. This is the perfect example of mission impossible. I have seen a couple of buildings in my residential area, having a shop or a cafe selling junk food and a gym or fitness center above it. I could imagine the tagline, ” Stuff your stomach with delicious treat, yet manage to stay slim, an impossible feat.” Walking for me is like a new year resolution, meant to be broken every few days.
But I do walk to and fro, within the four walls of my house, whenever I hear my name being called by Mom or my daughter for at least 100 times in a day. Coffee or tea is my incentive to remove myself from the chair and enter the kitchen. That’s all about my walking schedule.
Let’s talk about running. It reminds me of Amitabh Bachchan’ ‘s dialogue from the movie ” Amar Akbar Anthony ” in which he says” Aisa to aadmi do ich time bhagta hai, Olympic ka race ho ya police ka case ho.” This means ” A man starts running only under two possible scenarios, the Olympic race or the police case.” In my case, I only take up sprinting when I am away from home and suddenly, I feel an urgent need to relieve myself. These are the situations that inspire you to become PT Usha Or Usain Bolt. The ice cream truck jingle starts playing in your neighborhood, and you suddenly become the world’s fastest sprinter.
You’re participating in a heated debate about pineapple on pizza, and the loser has to run a lap around the block. You discover a spider in the shower, and your arachnophobia-induced sprint sets a new land-speed record. Your alarm clock malfunctions, and the only way to stop the blaring noise is to run around your house searching for the off button. You enter a dance-off competition, and when your dance moves fail, you make a speedy exit from the dance floor.
The Wi-Fi signal strength indicator is on a run, and you chase it all over your house trying to catch a better signal. Chasing after your runaway umbrella during a windy day. Dodging a pigeon who seems to have a personal vendetta against you. Reacting to a surprise sprinkler system attack during your morning jog. Trying to beat the elevator doors closing when you’re just a few steps away.
When you spot your neighbor walking towards you with a tray of homemade, questionably shaped cookies, and you suddenly become an Olympic sprinter to avoid taste-testing. When your phone battery has almost drained up but you wish to watch an interesting YouTube video.
When you notice your friend walking towards you, either to claim the money that you borrowed from him or to seek a loan from you. Your son or daughter wants your help to solve a mathematical problem.
In the delightful chaos of everyday life, from dodging pigeons with vendettas to fleeing surprise sprinkler attacks, we find moments of hilarity and absurdity that make the journey all the more entertaining. Whether we're walking leisurely or sprinting frantically, these experiences remind us to embrace the unexpected and find joy in the ordinary.
So, next time you find yourself racing against time or chasing after a runaway umbrella, remember to laugh along the way and cherish the hilarity that comes with simply being human. After all, in the marathon of life, a good laugh might just be the best form of exercise.
