Molecular Story
Thus began the journey of water molecules frolicking freely with glee , merrily dancing on the leaps and bounds of waves along with its co-molecule friends. Together they explored the wilderness of the sea , the storms and underwater too. Many times going through the fishes’ mouths a few times coming out of fins a few times through their rear outlets. Gathering again boasting , “ I went into Shark’s tummy ….” , “ Oh yeah !....., mine was a whale ....” , “ Jelly fish belly was like a real fiasco ... .boy !, I got intoxicated ... .phew !” , “ You must see the inside of octopus guys ! It has three hearts” said another .Together they had fun rolling across , tossing away , enjoying day and night. Always in awe of the moon they tried to rise high especially on full moon days trying in vain to reach it. Failing each time they wondered why they're so attracted. An aged dolphin passing by said “ it's the moon gravity that's pulling you, sillies”. “ wish we at least touched the skies …..” they dreamed. , “ You will soon….” the Dolphin assured swimming away.
Sun blazed heating up the air , water molecules to their amazement started changing shape into vapour, became weightless drifting above the sea reaching the sky like they always wished , yet the sky seemed much higher. Thrilled with their new white cottony fluffy forms , they stayed together moving in a gliding motion enthralled looking at the colourful land below. Green fields, brown lands , dense forests, beautiful birds, cities with symmetrical layouts , rivers and canals making curvy designs , airplanes whizzing past , children cheering and jumping pointing at them. They traveled far and wide in wonderment at the surprise views below and above not knowing the changes they themselves were going through. Seeing fellow clouds they exclaimed “ look there !!….. another group like ours”. An eagle flying by smirked , “ They are your juniors ,cumulus , you guys are cumulonimbus, the ones older and darker than them and soon you will fall” , “ fly away you jealous bird “ they muffled under breath”. Looking down at a lake which reflected their image they were startled with the size and the dark gray colour , and also realized they grew heavier, they cried “ why are we so dirty ….?”. Taken aback by their new form they became gloomy and grumpy.Seeing many other similar companions they grumbled, puzzled about what's coming ahead. Passing over a majestic mountain range which changed the air pressure making them hustle bustle against their cloudmates producing a striking brilliant zig zag light touching the land with a thundering sound . Bewildered with the new situation , panic stricken, they tried to huddle but soon they transformed to their previous liquid state and started to fall off as kids played singing, “ Rain Rain go away…..”, while peacocks swayed in dance with their resplendent train of feathers
Shattered apart they fell on roof tops , trees, croplands , on birds and animals ( which shrugged them off ). Some went into the land masses nourishing plants , some into the stream , some got harvested to make food , clean things and also pottery. The ones that fell in ponds were at times picked in by the petals and leaves of lotuses , they rejoiced dancing and running about like rounded beads with the swaying of water currents. Those which fell on mountains stayed until the collection swelled up crossing boundaries making way with their gathered force of motion towards the cliff to make a grand nose dive, crashing against rocks, tree roots and gushing forward to a larger space . Not stopping anywhere racing on as if being chased. The ones near to the banks got lifted into bottles and pots for cooking purposes, poured into pans and whoosh ! became vapour again. Others consumed by people they traveled along the gut , witnessing the horrific world inside only to be collected later in small jars they landed in a lab under a microscope. “ What are you glaring at man ! You humans have very bad ph values and infested too” the cry was ignored as the person made notes.
Getting washed in tap water in a wash basin they fell into the drain pipe, got mixed with garbage and suffered various combinations ,precipitations , gradually ,steadily being pushed into the river water where they lay stagnant for sometime until pushed into deeper area where they healed and rejuvenated which was a fresh lease of life again. Meeting their fellow molecules again gave them renewed energy. Moving on they were given a grand welcome by people in robes holding big lamps of harathi on the banks while many other people flocked to witness with spiritual fervour. At a few places lamps, flowers and offerings were made into the water. “ Help yourself first man , and always shake off garbage that pulls you back” they advised the unlistening folks around . Jumping high out of the strong sturdy dam with a force that produces energy to generate power supply , they flowed on looking up to the passing clouds , they rippled , “ enjoy your journey friends, situations change , originality does not”. Saying so they were overjoyed with ecstasy seeing their reunion with Mother Ocean again. Racing in pushing the fisher boats they heard a fisherman telling his son while throwing in the nets , “ Bruce Lee said ‘Be formless , shapeless, water poured into glass becomes the glass when in teapot becomes the teapot , be Water my friend’ which meant find your way according to conditions , ultimate mantra for life” . “Wise guy”, they appreciated rising over to give the fisherman and his son a high five , only managing sprinkling on their smiling faces.
